Christmas 1981. Our society places so much emphasis on youth that it's easy to get the impression that getting old is some kind of disgrace. This seems strange to me because everyone gets to be young but only the luckiest people get to be old. In my opinion each day, no matter how many problems it may pose, is truly a blessing, because no one is promised tomorrow and to live to be very old is to have been blessed many times!

Available for purchase:

This is a painting I've intended to paint for over 30 years and for some reason I've procrastinated. in 1973 when I worked across the street from the State Capitol, I photographed this Great Tailed Grackle all dressed in his power suit, puffed up and promising who knows what and I immediately thought he was a natural born Politician. He Sounds pretty good but you probably can't belive anything he says and besides that he's sitting on the fence! This year while researching my files I stumbled on to my photograph and got over my procrastination!

This Waterfall is located on Tonkawa Creek within the City Limits of Crawford, Texas, “home of the Former Western White House” and is the center piece of the Crawford City Park. I left out the Street Bridge that is directly above the Falls and added the Bluebonnets on the Bank because it was April when I went to the Falls to take my reference photos. Maybe I’ll give them the idea to plant some Bluebonnets there!- GEORGE BOUTWELL
