While driving on the IH35 access road south of Hewitt, Texas this spring, I had a choice to make, either to get back on IH35, or take a dirt road of unknown destination. Many of the people who have seen the original to this Lithograph have said, "I've Crossed That Bridge Before"!

Several years ago I was driving into a small town in East Texas; I think it was Palestine but I'm not sure; when I saw this sign painted on a barn with chickens in the yard. I remember thinking that if those chickens could read, that they would be hiding in the woods. I added the pig and used a barn I found near West Columbia which I liked a little better! ( I found out later that the Sign on the Barn was in Waxahachie and met Elnora Aday who had owned the Restaurant )

This scene is a combination of two places on the Willow City Loop, one of Texas' most scenic drives, located between LLano and Fredericksburg. I added the Farm House and Barn.

Although the scene is near Hillsboro, this painting was inspired by a thunderstorm at Midland as I was racing back to an art show to cover my work!

The Grand Theater built in 1936, is on the Courthouse Square in Stamford, Texas, home of the Famous Texas Cowboy Reunion. The Western Movie Bandolero was filmed in 1968 near Brackettville, Texas. Recognize anyone in the cars?

Ironweed (Vernonia baldwinii, Sunflower family) grows two to four foot tall and blooms from June to November in most parts of Texas and is one of it's most hardy plants. The Painted Lady Butterfly is found in most of the U.S., the adult Butterfly lives more than one season and hibernates during the winter or migrates.
