This Magnificent Post Oak is in Clarksville, Texas and is located at the northwest corner of the Old Clarksville Cemetery. This Tree was first used as a Hanging Tree in 1837 when a man named Page and three others were hanged for the Murder of Captain Charles Burham and Levi Davis. This tree was used as the Hanging Tree for many years until more civilized methods were employed.

I discovered Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas Panhandle several years ago and was totally amazed by it's grandeur. As we crossed the creek that is part of the headwaters of the Red River, I noticed horses and riders on a riding trail. The scene had a timeless quality and provided the inspiration for this painting!

Available for purchase:

Palo Duro Canyon cuts an enormous gash across the otherwise flat Texas Panhandle. The colors and forms revealed by millions of years of wind and water erosion are quite spectacular. I put the horse and rider on the ridge just to show the scale of this wonder of nature.

Whenever people talk about how flat Texas is, you can bet they have the Panhandle in mind. The Grandeur of the sky more than makes up for the flatness of the land. This Windmill is a Samson Airflow that I found at Fort Davis, Texas.

This old '36 Ford sits on the Bubak Ranch near Cat Spring, Texas and is the only time in my life that I've seen a tree growing out of a car and so unusual that I just had to share it with you!

I can't think of a more perfect picture of spring in Central Texas than a partly cloudy sky with the Bluebonnets in bloom. Everything from the gently moving patterns in the sky to the songs of the birds and the aroma of the flowers says it's great to be alive and able to appreciate nature's bounty!

Available for purchase:

This is one of the most typical Central Texas scenes I've painted. I can't count the times I've driven along the highway and seen deer grazing near a large live oak. I'll bet they wonder where we're all going in such a big hurry!

This title is the result of my annual contest to name one of my Paintings. Sycamore trees line the Highway south of our Ranch and I added the Cardinals flying by for a splash of color."according to the Dictionary, the definition of "Passing Fancy" is "Something that captures one's interest or enthusiasm for only a brief period of time"

This is Palo Duro Canyon in the Texas Panhandle and it is the Nations Second Largest Canyon! This view is the background for my earlier print "Regal Radiance" except that is is more of a close up view. I just haven't been able to get this view out of my system so I decided to paint it again reversing the subjects with the Eagle small and the Canyon Wall large.

Last year we were given a cutting from a Passion Vine that was growing wild on another ranch and Martha planted it near the fence on the north side of our yard. It grew slowly at first, until this last summer when it took over a large section of fence and bloomed. Having only seen a Passion Flower in a Wildflower Field Guide , I had no idea of how large and beautiful they were. The Passion Flowers bloomed just after I had finished painting the paintings for the Wildflower Calendar, so I decided to paint this for my annual gift print ! For this season and all seasons we would like to express our extreme gratitude to all of you who have given your support and allowed us to follow our dreams in life and we hope you enjoy this gesture of our appreciation!

Available for purchase:

This Century Old Iron Gate is the gate to our front yard here on the Ranch and is seldom used anymore because of the 20 feet of stairs to climb to get to it. These days we all drive up to the back gate where it is flat and easy to access. These Irises were planted by Mellie Pool over 100 years ago and bless our yard every spring.

This title is the result of my annual contest to name one of my prints. This scene is of Neils Creek at the back of our ranch and is a special place for Martha and I to escape to. This creek in a way led us to our move to the country because I had done a painting of a place a few miles down the creek a few years before we found our ranch.

Christmas 1983. As I hurried along one day, I passed a stream and on the spur of the moment turned around and went back. I walked down to the water and watched as it trickled on its way. I marveled at the ever changing patterns and reflections, I listened to the soft sounds as the water flowed thru the rocks and I felt at peace. I returned to the highway and got back on my way, still in a hurry, but in a much calmer frame of mind!

Available for purchase:

This is the top of our house and you are looking into our bedroom window, which is a favorite observation deck for our cats, who enjoy looking down on everyone!
