This painting will be included in my 2020 Texas Sunrise Calendar. This Longhorn was named Fajita and lived his life at our ranch. He was easily recognized by his horn tips that went in different directions!

This Waterfall is on Lake Buchannan and only accessible by boat. The Falls are currently about 50 feet high but were close to 100 feet high before the lake was created. The Vanishing Texas River Cruise that features views of Bald Eagle Nests turns arouond at these Falls.

"This ain't New England y'all, this is Central Texas!" "The water's just axle deep and the bottom's solid limestone, so y'all can drive on thru"- I was told as I visited a ranch near Vanderpool, Texas in the area of the Lost Maples.

I was traveling between Groesbeck and Lott, Texas when I saw this dwindling Thunderhead backlit by the setting sun. The way the edges of the cloud glowed pink and the way the sunrays fanned out behind it was absolutely surreal!

FALLS CITY FALLS - These Falls are on the San Antonio River, down stream from San Antonio and are what the town of Falls City was named after. Although aaccess to the Falls is private property, I was fortunate to have one of the land owners give me a personal tour - GEORGE BOUTWELL

Available for purchase:

FALLS ON THE BRAZOS - This Waterfall spans the entire width of the Brazos River just downstream from Marlin, Texas and I belive it is the widest Waterfall in Texas. These Falls were an obstacle to Steamboat Traffic on the Brazos before Railroads took over the moving of freight in Texas.

I noticed these boys climbing a tree and my mind wandered back to my own childhood. We had an Oak tree in the backyard and my friends and I built a tree house which soon became a spaceship, a castle, a pioneer fort, a pirate ship and many things too numerous to mention. As we grow up we drift away from childhood fantasies and concentrate on more mature things. If we will only let our minds wander back to this marvelous state, we can often find answers to our real problems and realize that the others are unimportant. Wouldn't this world be a more wonderful place if we would all accept this great gift and enjoy it more?

Available for purchase:

The Store Building is the Silver City Store East of Temple and was out of business when I found it several years ago,so I used my imagination to put it back in business. Feed Stores are a gathering place for Cowboys, Ranchers and the likes and a good place to discuss current events. The dog is the late "Lucky Dog", the Smartest dog we've ever owned.

This is the Old Rock Church west of our ranch between Norse and Cranfill's Gap and I was standing by a single Oak tree when I took my reference Photographs and decided when I was Painting the picture to add some more trees to balance the picture!

That's what crossed my mind when I saw this white butterfly land on an Indian Blanket outside my studio. I'm always amazed that with the right conditions, the plainest things can become dramatic.

Christmas 1990. When our daughter Kimberlee was little, she was a frail, sickly child and was six when I saw her standing on a chair, watching snow fall for the first time in her life, unable to go out in it because of an illness. A year or so later, Kimberlee had her tonsils removed and became a vibrantly healthy young lady who went on to run marathons in High School. When I painted this we needed money desperately and I sold it to Dr. Ralston Gober and his wife Linda from Corsicana, Texas. The Gobers hung the painting in their daughter Ellen's room because they said that Kimberlee and Ellen looked a lot alike and were about the same age. During the seventeen years that have passed I've often regretted selling this painting that Martha so hoped she would get to keep, and had on occasion shared my regrets with Dr. & Mrs. Gober. To my great surprise Linda Gober appeared with the painting at one of my shows this past summer and told me that their daughter Ellen, like our daughter Kimberlee, had grown up and left home. She said that Ellen had agreed that everyone would be happier if Martha had the painting. So we traded for one of my new paintings and I hid the painting to give to Martha on her birthday and I believe it was the most special birthday present I've ever given her!

This is low tide on the Bay side of South Padre Island and I always find the patterns of the Tidal Mud Flats fascinating, especially at Sundown with all the great colors. I envy the sheer flying skill of Pelicans as they glide for hundreds of feet with little effort and a single wing flap will take them another 100 yards while scooping up a few fish.

Available for purchase:

I found this old Shrimp Boat in Rockport waiting for repairs and was spellbound by the flaking red paint. I removed the building that was behind it and replaced it with the Bay as a background.

Several years ago I was visiting a ranch near Vanderpool and was walking in a Box Canyon lined with trees and a delightful creek and I came upon several Horses and thought the scene would make a good painting. I took some photographs and apparently misfiled them until recently when I rediscovered them and this painting is the result!
