While driving thru a country village called Prairie Dell, I got a sudden glimpse of a bull standing at the opposite end of a barn, perfectly centered in the doorway. The bull moved away before I could stop my car and the idea slipped away. Several years later, while face to face with a Brahma Bull near San Angelo, the memory of the first "Encounter" returned. This time I didn't forget!

Martha calls this cat Honey and he's quite a dignified fellow. I saw him sitting on this old ladder looking like he was in charge and the title "The Executive" immediately came to mind!

Available for purchase:

This old gate was at a place where Martha's sister and her husband used to live. I had done a small painting of it years ago and stumbled onto the reference photos I took recently and decided to use it again but this time with a big plump Robin that frequents our back yard.

I was showing my work in Huntsville, Texas at the "General Sam Houston Folklife Festival" and noticed several free roaming chickens on the grounds. This Rooster seemed to strut with more authority than the others so I figured that he must be the Boss!

I was Teaching a Workshop at the Rockport Art Center and stepped out the back door which opens out to the Harbor. This Shrimp Boat Named the Bald Eagle was moored close by and as I looked at the boat a Seagull landed right on the tip of the Bow with his wings spread eagled as if to try and convince himself that he was a Bald Eagle! I went to get my camera but the Seagull was gone when I returned. No matter how hard he tries he will always be a Seagull but we have an advantage in that what we try for, we can almost always achieve if we try hard enough!

Christmas 1981. Our society places so much emphasis on youth that it's easy to get the impression that getting old is some kind of disgrace. This seems strange to me because everyone gets to be young but only the luckiest people get to be old. In my opinion each day, no matter how many problems it may pose, is truly a blessing, because no one is promised tomorrow and to live to be very old is to have been blessed many times!

is at 2028 Fort Worth Highway on the east side of Weatherford, Texas and it opened for business in 1958. The minute I saw the charcoal and pink color scheme it took me back to the Fifties when charcoal and pink was all the rage!

This cluster of Live Oak Trees only exsist in my mind. I painted this from memory of typical Texas Live Oak Trees. I added the Cardinal because so many people have liked my previous painting “A Touch of Red” which was a real tree near Dripping Springs!

This is a painting I've intended to paint for over 30 years and for some reason I've procrastinated. in 1973 when I worked across the street from the State Capitol, I photographed this Great Tailed Grackle all dressed in his power suit, puffed up and promising who knows what and I immediately thought he was a natural born Politician. He Sounds pretty good but you probably can't belive anything he says and besides that he's sitting on the fence! This year while researching my files I stumbled on to my photograph and got over my procrastination!
