Blue Jays are some of my favorite birds and often mischaracterized as undesirable. Although they are full of mischief, I believe that anyone who really watches these hilarious characters can't help but change their minds about these gorgeous and very intelligent members of the Crow family

I have always wanted to drive the River Road alpng the Rio Grande up river from Big Bend National Park and was granted my wish by David Tinsley who flew me out to Lajitas to photograph the Old Mission Ruins at Ruidosa, Texas. Except for a few changes I made, this scene is just up the river from Lajitas, Texas!

The Ector and Scott Theaters are actually 2 blocks apart in Odessa on the Bankhead Highway. I couldn't decide which one I wanted to paint, so I put them both in this Painting. The Ector Theater has been restored, but the Scott is closed. The Scott Theater is way too cool to be closed, hopefully it will be restored as well.

This Great Oak Tree is on FM 1624, north of Giddings, and marks the site of Evergreen, an early pioneer community on the El Camino Real, now State Highway 21. By 1836, Doctor J. M. Stockton built an Inn beside this historic oak. One of Dr. Stockton's more notable guests was General Sam Houston.

The Windmill has been a great servant and still has a great amount to give. In addition to providing life sustaining water, it is one of the most graceful man made things I can think of.

I've painted several night scenes with lots of stars and decided to paint a larger one to show more stars. This painting was painted in public and was done totally from memory.

Christmas 1998. I painted this in 1974, shortly after becoming a full time Artist and Martha liked it very much. I knew it would sell quickly and we desperately needed the money, but Martha was working for free and I decided to give it to her as a gift. This Paining is symbolic of our life patterns and that of lots of people and creatures alike in that the Lady sits on the beach and waits while the Man goes flying off to catch a fish to give to her as a gesture of his love!

Available for purchase:

That's Chuck Naiser of Rockport demonstrating the proper form for Saltwater Fly Fishing which has become very popular. If it hadn't been for Chuck taking me out into the Bays and Coastal Marshes in his boat I might have never realized that there was more to the coast than the breakers. Chuck made a career change from the business world several years ago and became one of the areas foremost Fishing Guides!

This town exists in the memory of anyone who's spent time in a small town. I painted this from the memory of my teenage years after I had a car and the freedom to go out and explore the world within a couple hours driving range of Austin. The buildings are from Lockhart, Gonzales and Georgetown and I named the businesses after places I worked in those days or after members of my family.

I guess that roads fascinate me because I use them so much - this scene and Border Collie are from the Bubak Ranch near Cat Spring, Texas!
