Dave and Kay Grebe make belt buckles and pottery and are good friends. When I've stopped at their place in Goldthwaite, Texas, I've enjoyed watching the wild turkeys come up to the house in the early morning.

Available for purchase:

Believe it or not I found Luckenbach, Texas, five years before the song was released. This was the side of the store and was one of six paintings I did for the Dr Pepper Company in 1976. Dr Pepper chose four which were printed and given away in grocery stores in Texas. Although they didn't choose this one, I would have.

I've seen lots of photographs of beach Morning Glories but always got to the beach after they had closed up for the day. I was on South Padre Island showing at the Beachcomber Art Show and decided to get up early on Sunday morning and explore the dunes. I found the Morning Glories open and got lots of reference photos and decided that Morning Glory was also a good title for this painting.

(To be included in my 2020 Texas Sunrise Calendar) I don't have to go very far to find nice patches of Cactus since we have more than our share right here on the Ranch!

Available for purchase:

I didn't have to go very far to find this barn, it's behind our house and three of the horses used to belong to us. The colt wasn't ours but I thought it would make this painting a little more appealing!

Available for purchase:

This house is at Granbury, Texas, the old fellow doesn't live there but I thought it would be appropriate so I put him in the picture. This painting belongs to my wife, Martha.

Whether your taste in Breakfast is for grains in the field or in a cereal bowl there is one thing for certain and that is, a great Sunrise to go with your Breakfast is a Double Helping! This house is near Chappel Hill, Texas.

Available for purchase:

This painting was inspired in the mornings when I feed my Cows! Deer and Wild Turkey come up to the Truck to share with the Cows.

Available for purchase:

This is near Hillsboro, Texas where I've done a lot of Painting. The long shadows of early Morning produce amazing textures and patterns on a dirt road and always entice me to find out where the road leads to.

Available for purchase:

I was walking my dogs early one morning after a recent rain and noticed the sunrise reflecting in the water on the road and my imagination took hold and this painting is the result.

This painting reflects my daily schedule of chores at the Ranch. I'm up early and our cows are outside the yard waiting to get some Range Cubes. Cattle love Range Cubes and they will follow anywhere to get their share.

Available for purchase:

This is frequently the first thing we see in the morning, the tree is right outside our bedroom window and we have so many Cardinals on our ranch that we couldn't begin to count them!

Available for purchase:

My favorite time of day is early morning and those days when the fog rolls up our hill from the Bosque River are extra special. Except for the house, barn and windmill this is the view at the gate between our pastures!

Available for purchase:

(Written in 1984) When I travel to Houston I usually leave Austin before dawn and reach Columbus at first light. Frequently, low fog along the Colorado River will blanket the terrain for miles, creating a beautiful, quiet landscape that glows with peace and new hope.

Available for purchase:

This is what it would look like on most winter mornings if we had a windmill in our front yard. I painted the scenery from memory and then I added this Star Zephyr Windmill that I found outside of Yorktown, Texas.

Available for purchase:

Mountain Pink (Centaurium beyrichii, Gentian family) grows in ball like clumps about 12" in diameter in central and west Texas from May to August. The Cuckoo Bee is a parasitic Bee that deposits its eggs in the ness of other Bees for the host Bees to care for.

Available for purchase:

I found this Adobe Barn at Balmorhea in West Texas, complete with the old John Deere Tractor. The only change I made to this scene was to move the Davis Mountains to the north side of the barn. I know, it would have been easier to turn the barn around but this way I can say that I've moved mountains!

Available for purchase:

This Painting was printed as a Christmas Gift Print and was given to everyone who had made a purchase in the previous three years! I was riding the Port Aransas Ferry and noticed this White Pelican riding the wake. The Ferry was churning up small creatures which were being eaten by small fish. Mr. Easy, our Pelican friend, was effortlessly scooping up the small fish. While the other Pelicans were off flying and diving and working hard, Mr. Easy was making a living with very little effort. I wondered if he would be able to fly north with the other Pelicans after having it so easy and getting out of shape or if he would just stay put and take it easy all of the time. I got to wondering if I might be working too hard chasing my dreams when I could be taking it easy doing something more conventional but then realized that I would probably be bored and was thankful that God had given me a mind of my own with the ability to ponder such things!

Available for purchase:

This will be included in my 2014 Texas Wildlife Calendar. We hand raised this Squirrel when our children were little. He was our pet and his name was "Squirmy"

Mudholes in the road can either be obstacles that block the way or mirrors that reflect infinity. In life, many obstacles or "mudholes" prove in retrospect to be glistening memories that last eternally, because they were conquered or solved and have become triumphs!
