is on U.S. 281 about 25 miles south of Wichita Falls and this store stopped me in my tracks as I was heading for an Art Show in Amarillo/ I replaced some newer vehicles with more appropriate ones, including the 1957 Pontiac we used to own!

A butterfly spends most of its life as a lowly worm, chewing leaves, and then sleeps for several months, to emerge near the end of its life. As one of God's most elegant creatures. As people we are often like the worm, spending most of our time plodding away with our dull routines and troubles. But we are more fortunate than the worm for we have the most beautiful wings of all, the wings of imagination, and we can fly away any time we choose.

This is from a fishing trip that I took with Chuck Naiser. We left Rockport and went along the bay side of Matagorda Island where the water is crystal clear. There are three Speckled Trout in the foreground, eyeing the lure that is moving thru the water and the fish that grabs this prize is the loser!

Last year we had a snow and ice storm that transformed the landscape into a winter wonderland. We had so many Cardinals in our yard that one of our shrubs near our bird feeder looked like a Christmas Tree!

This Romanesque Revival Style Courthouse is on the Decatur square and was designed by J. Riely Gordon and built in 1896. This Courthouse is very similar to the Ellis County Courthouse in Waxahachie that I've Painted for December.

This Painting is a composition from several Fishing Trips to the Backwater Bays of the Texas Coast. Chuck Naiser is the Fisherman and was the first to introduce me to Bay Fishing and later the first to introduce me to Saltwater Fly Fishing. Recently I was given a refresher course by Bud Rowland and Del Fankhauser which got me in the mood to paint another Fishing Scene. There are two Redfish and two Speckled Trout on the stringer, the light is fading fast but maybe there is time catch one more and a Full House will beat Two Pair!
Available for purchase:
This is the Painting that I will be printing, Signing and Numbering and sensing as a Christmas gift to all of the folks that have bought something from us in the past 3 years. This is our 110 year old Ranch House in the background and 4 recently restored antique lawn chairs that we have been collecting for several years.

This painting will be published on my 2006 Texas Spanish Missions Calendar. The Ysleta Mission, "Mission San Antonio de los Tiguas" is Southeast of El Paso and is the second oldest Christian Congregation in the United State! The mission was founded in 1680 and was destroyed by floods several times and was moved to its present location and reconstruction was finished in 1851. Ysletta Mission also is the Tigua Indian Tribe headquarters and they have a great Restaurant and gift shop as well!

In 1845, Brigadier General (later President) Zachary Taylor was sent by Ship to receive Texas' acceptance of Statehood. The US Alabama anchored off of St. Joseph Island and General Taylor and his men attempted to take a smaller boat into Rockport but ran aground on a sand bar and were marooned for 4 days before being rescued by fishermen. Once on shore, General Taylor and his men camped under this Oak Tree waiting for his next assignment!
