WILD PETUNIA

Painting completed in: 1987

Wild Petunia (Ruellia nudiflora, Acanthus family) as it's commonly called, is not really a Petunia, the true name is Violet Ruellia and it blooms from March to December in most of Texas except the Panhandle. The Differential Grasshopper, although interesting to look at can consume sixteen times its bodyweight in a single day and is a threat to agriculture when too many are present.
