We've were busy this past Spring and didn't get the weed eater out to trim around this fountain in our yard. These Pink Evening Primroses bloomed all around the fountain and I think I'll wait to trim weeds from now on! This was printed as my Christmas Gift Print that I signed and numbered and sent to my Customers as a gift in 2013

This house is near Cross Cut, Texas and the 59 Caddy wasn't there but, the idea is that if you live so far out in the country that no one's ever seen your shack, you can drive to town in your Caddy and folks'll think you're a rich rancher!

(Danaus gilippus) Queen Butterflies are very similar to the Monarch and are closely related, sharing similar food and both species have toxic body fluids. Unlike the Monarch the Queen doesn't Migrate and doesn't have the bold black veins on its outside wings ( it does however have bold black veins on it's lower under wing.) This painting was inspired at the NABA Butterfly Park in Mission, Texas!

This painting will be included in my 2020 Texas Sunrise Calendar. Mornings with ground fog are almost always silent due to the stillness of the air. I painted this from memory of the frequent foggy mornings here at the Ranch.

THIS TITLE IS THE RESULT OF MY ANNUAL CONTEST TO NAME ONE OF MY PAINTINGS. "Quiet Time" appealed to me because this spot is where I stop on my morning walks on the Ranch and sit quietly and observe the wildlife that frequents this Stock Tank! Although this house is at Cleburne, Texas, I decided to put it in the country and added this Texas Mailbox. I know that Cactus doesn't bear fruit in March but, I decided this would be appropriate for Texas Independence Day, anyway!

This was my 2014 Christmas Painting and verse: Rain Lilies have always fascinated me! There can be the most barren, parched and cracked ground that looks that way for months on end but just one good rain storm will be enough to cause the Rain Lilies to suddenly appear almost overnight. They blossom , drop their seeds and wait for the next opportunity which may be months away!
In life ,we can take a lesson from the Rain Lilies, in that no matter how bleak things may seem, with patience and just a little encouragement at the right time we can suddenly blossom just like the Rain Lilies!

Ranching can be a hard way to make a living due to the uncertainties of weather, market conditions, feed supply and lots of other unforeseen problems. But if a Rancher happens to be lucky enough to have an Oil Well or two he can stay in the Ranching Business for a lot longer!

These are our ten Longhorn Steers and they would follow our pickup off a cliff if they thought there was a chance of getting to eat some range cubes when they hit the ground! The truck was at the Stamford Cowboy Reunion, the rancher is Jack Horne of Coleman, Texas and the background is how our place will look if we don't get some rain soon!

These Oak Trees are located at the Corner of Gonzales and Travis Streets in Seguin, Texas and as early as 1828, were used as a Campground Headquarters for the "Gonzales Rangers" who patrolled between Gonzales and San Antonio. The Gonzales Rangers later became known as the "Texas Rangers"!

These two Havard Agaves were blooming this spring right by the front door to our showroom here at the ranch and were very popular with Hummingbirds and Bees!. Havard Agaves are native to the Davis Mountains of West Texas so I placed them in a more natural setting. The Mountains in the background are the Franklin Mountains at El Paso.

There are countless explanations of the great star of Bethlehem and you can believe what you wish or trust that it was a miracle. No matter what you may believe, it's hard to see a real bright star and not ask yourself the question; "Reckon it's the same one?"

This title is from my annual contest to name one of my prints. There's a draw back behind our ranch house where you can't always find wild Turkeys but you can usually find their footprints. I moved the Windmill in from Skidmore, Texas and the water tank in from Goodnite, Texas because I thought they belonged in this picture!

The flowers are Indian Blanket and are one of the most widespread Wildflowers in the country and on certain years they blanket the terrain with a sea of red that can rival the Bluebonnets for putting on a show. The Windmill is between Lometa and Goldthwaite , Texas.

This Axtell Model C Windmill; made in Fort Worth by the way; was near Junction, Texas but I put it in a scene I found near Zephyr, Texas and then added the Bluebonnetts and the Farmhouse!

This house is just outside of Bishop, Texas and always catches my eye as I travel Highway 77. Actually it doesn't have a red roof but maybe somebody will suggest it to the owner!

This Eagle was wounded by irresponsible gunfire and a friend of mine nursed him back to health and released him back into the wild. I took reference photographs of him on my friend's arm and used Palo Duro Canyon as a backdrop because that's the last place that I saw an Eagle in the wild and I figure that this Eagle has probably been there.

This old wagon was a Friday Mountain Camp near Austin many years ago when my children were little. The yellow and red flowers are Coreopsis and the Lavender flowers are Beebalm or Lemon Mint.
