I was with Jack Horne at his ranch near Coleman, Texas and we stopped to talk with a friend of his. I thought two pickups stopped with drivers talking would make a good painting so I got out to take pictures when several horses ran up and tore into the feed sacks in the truck, stealing the feed that was intended for Jack's Cattle!

House Park Barbecue is Austin's oldest, having been in business since 1943. They are located at 900 W. 12th Street. I ate there when I attended Austin High School (Class of 1961) which is just 2 blocks away! House Park is the name of Old Austin High's Stadium.

This was inspired on the same rare snowy day as my previous painting "Red, White, Blue and Green" and the barn shown is the same one with the Texas Flag on the side, except from the opposite side. Our cattle use this barn for shelter whenever there is a storm of any kind.

The Hyde Park Fire Station is located at 4301 Speedway in Austin's Hyde Park Neighborhood and was built in 1929. A threat to close this Station was met with a strong protest and lead to the formation of the Hyde Park Neighborhood Association which became a leader in the Historic Preservation movement in Austin. We raised our children in Hyde Park so I just had to include this Station in my Fire Station Calendar!

is on U.S. Highway 290, between Johnson City and Stonewall, Texas and I’ve been itching to paint this store ever since I discovered it in 1973 on the same trip that I discovered Luckenbach. Rumor is that Lyndon Johnson was one of the regulars that hung out at Hye.

While driving on the IH35 access road south of Hewitt, Texas this spring, I had a choice to make, either to get back on IH35, or take a dirt road of unknown destination. Many of the people who have seen the original to this Lithograph have said, "I've Crossed That Bridge Before"!
Available for purchase:
Several years ago I was driving into a small town in East Texas; I think it was Palestine but I'm not sure; when I saw this sign painted on a barn with chickens in the yard. I remember thinking that if those chickens could read, that they would be hiding in the woods. I added the pig and used a barn I found near West Columbia which I liked a little better! ( I found out later that the Sign on the Barn was in Waxahachie and met Elnora Aday who had owned the Restaurant )
Available for purchase:
This scene is a combination of two places on the Willow City Loop, one of Texas' most scenic drives, located between LLano and Fredericksburg. I added the Farm House and Barn.

This is an imaginary place that mirrors many places in and around small towns in Texas. My interest in old tractors got started when I bought a 1957 John Deere from Joe Bland who has a place not too much different than Junior’s in Valley Mills, Texas.
Available for purchase:
This little Chickadee is one that we nursed back to health at least 20 years ago after it had an injured wing. I photographed him before we released him back into the wild. I knew Martha would want this painting so I portrayed him with his wing hanging down. He was able to perfectly in spite of the hanging wing.

Bobwhite Quail usually have at least one of the Covey keeping watch from somewhere with a good view to watch for danger. If you see a Bobwhite perched in plain view you can usually figure that the rest of the Covey is close by. Many years ago we raised Bob Whites and I took hundreds of reference photographs!
