That's what crossed my mind when I saw this white butterfly land on an Indian Blanket outside my studio. I'm always amazed that with the right conditions, the plainest things can become dramatic.

Christmas 1990. When our daughter Kimberlee was little, she was a frail, sickly child and was six when I saw her standing on a chair, watching snow fall for the first time in her life, unable to go out in it because of an illness. A year or so later, Kimberlee had her tonsils removed and became a vibrantly healthy young lady who went on to run marathons in High School. When I painted this we needed money desperately and I sold it to Dr. Ralston Gober and his wife Linda from Corsicana, Texas. The Gobers hung the painting in their daughter Ellen's room because they said that Kimberlee and Ellen looked a lot alike and were about the same age. During the seventeen years that have passed I've often regretted selling this painting that Martha so hoped she would get to keep, and had on occasion shared my regrets with Dr. & Mrs. Gober. To my great surprise Linda Gober appeared with the painting at one of my shows this past summer and told me that their daughter Ellen, like our daughter Kimberlee, had grown up and left home. She said that Ellen had agreed that everyone would be happier if Martha had the painting. So we traded for one of my new paintings and I hid the painting to give to Martha on her birthday and I believe it was the most special birthday present I've ever given her!

This is low tide on the Bay side of South Padre Island and I always find the patterns of the Tidal Mud Flats fascinating, especially at Sundown with all the great colors. I envy the sheer flying skill of Pelicans as they glide for hundreds of feet with little effort and a single wing flap will take them another 100 yards while scooping up a few fish.

I found this old Shrimp Boat in Rockport waiting for repairs and was spellbound by the flaking red paint. I removed the building that was behind it and replaced it with the Bay as a background.

Several years ago I was visiting a ranch near Vanderpool and was walking in a Box Canyon lined with trees and a delightful creek and I came upon several Horses and thought the scene would make a good painting. I took some photographs and apparently misfiled them until recently when I rediscovered them and this painting is the result!

This is Fort worth Fire Station # 2 at 1000 Cherry Street in Downtown Fort Worth. Built in 1930 and designed by Herman Paul Koeppe in the Zig Zag Moderne style of Art Deco Architecture. I exaggerated the tower a little because I wanted to show it a little better1

Station #18 is located at 1908 Carleton Street and Camp Bowie in Fort Worth. This station was built in 1923 and is the oldest in Fort Worth that is still in use. The Bungalow Style architecture was designed to blend in with the Neighborhood.

A white "Gingerbread House" at the outskirts of a Hill Country town, once alone, now crowded in by ewer buildings. Only the magic of an an Artist's imagination could have returned it to its intended place!

There's something special about snow in Central Texas because it's so rare and an added privilege is to be the one to make the first tracks after it falls!

Located at 1002 Fort Worth Drive in Denton, Texas, opened for business in 1954 as Mr. Frosty and was remodeled to it's present look in 1964. Founded by the late Jack Webb, his son and current owner Randy Webb has worked there all of his life and Randy's Mother Judy webb has cooked there since Frosty opened in 1954! It took me two days to find a time when they weren't swamped with customers to get this information and that says a lot about the quality of the food there!
Available for purchase:
Frost is really interesting as tiny ice crystals cover the landscape and create a Fairy Tale effect. This scene is from the back of my pickup truck one frosty morning as I was feeding our Longhorns and that's our house in the background!
Available for purchase:
This Great Old fire Station is in Gainesville, Texas and was Built in 1918. It is currently known as Station number 3. Plans are to replace it with a new station sometime in the future but for the sake of aesthetics I hope it will be a long time!

This is from a pioneer homestead in Big Bend National park. I stood by this windmill and watched the clouds drop over the Chisos Mountains and I thought of the struggle these brave people must have had and this painting came to mind!

(Papilio Cresphontes) These Giant Swallowtails are feeding on the Lantanna that grows all over our yard which blossoms for several months and is one of the better Butterfly attracting plants. Giant Swallowtails are found all across Texas and sometimes we will have dozens of them feeding in our yard at one time.

Since I was producing a "Texas" Cardinal Calendar, I just had to incorporate a Texas Symbol and got this idea picking up my Mail! This Cardinal is sunning himself in a spread out pose that is typical of most Birds!

This "Steamboat Gothic" house is in Coleman, Texas and is one of the few in the state. In reality it wasn't in quite as good condition as I've portrayed it, but has been fixed up since the painting was done, To Martha and I this painting is symbolic as we now have our child rearing days behind us and are looking forward to the coming "Golden Years"!
