In 1842 Gideon White was one of several Austin Settlers Massacred by Indians. He was killed near this grove of Oaks where he had lived. His Daughter Married Edward Seiders and settled under these trees. Later in 1865 general George Custer Camped here and by the 1870's this spot became a popular recreation area. These Trees are located in Austin Between 34th and 38th streets in the Shoal Creek Greenbelt in Seiders Park.
