Lantana (Lantana horrida and Lantana camara, Vervian family) blooms from April to October in Central and East Texas and has two varieties, one being a wildflower and the other a cultivated plant that has escaped into the wild and mingled with the wild species producing the mixed species shown here. This Pearly Eye is but one of about fifty different Pearly Eye Butterflies in the U.S.
