Painting completed in: 1980
For some people, that daily trip to the mailbox is their only contact with the rest of the world. I was driving between Waco and Temple, Texas when I saw this old fellow getting his mail; although he must have been aware of me photographing him, he never let me know it and walked on back toward his home. His house wasn't as interesting as he was so I substituted the one in this painting, which is the Wolf House on East First Street in Austin.
