The Ponca Motel is on the Historic Bankhead Highway which was the first Transcontinental Paved Highway that ran from Washington DC to San Francisco, California. I first Heard about the Bankhead Highway in a conversation about the Ponca Motel. The Bankhead Highway passed thru Texas fron Texarkana to El Paso and Texas has more Miles of the Bankhead Highway than any other State!
