“MISSION SOCORRO" This painting will be published on my 2006 Texas Spanish Missions Calendar. La Purisma Concepcion del Socorro Mission is on the Mission Trail in El Paso, Texas and was founded in 1681 and a permanent structure was completed in 1691. Destroyed by floods from the Rio Grande in 1740 and 1829 and rebuilt both times, the present building was finished in 1843. Mission Socorro is in the National Register of Historic Places. - GEORGE BOUTWELL
